Dear Irving on Hudson
Bar in Hell's KitchenOur HighlightAdd to myNY addedThe bar Dear Irving on Hudson is a real insider tip. The bar is small and cozy and not yet as crowded as many others in the neighborhood. The cocktail menu is not that big, but the cocktails are really good.

04
Electric Lemon
Rooftop Bar in Hudson YardsOur HighlightAdd to myNY addedOn the 24th floor of the Equinox Hotel in the Hudson Yards you will find the rooftop bar Electric Lemon – I myself have been here several times and am thrilled every time. The atmosphere here is very special and the view over the Hudson River at sunset is amazing.
The first area of the Electric Lemon Rooftop Bar consists of several lounge furniture and tables, then you will immediately notice the stylish outdoor bar and glass fireplace (and the view of The Vessel), which really comes into its own in the evening. Add to that a huge wire sculpture and a water basin – really nice!
The larger area with lots of comfy lounge chairs is the part where you probably spend the most time. Especially if you’ve been out on the High Line, the Electric Lemon Rooftop Bar is a really nice spot to relax. They make you pay for it, too: Cocktails cost $19.

Bar in Midtown ManhattanOur HighlightAdd to myNY addedThe St. Regis Hotel’s refurbished King Cole Bar, originally established in 1932, continues to preserve a hint of vintage New York. This bar in the St. Regis Hotel is where the Bloody Mary cocktail was allegedly introduced to America.
-
07
P.J. Clarks
Bar in Midtown ManhattanOur HighlightAdd to myNY addedYou must visit P.J. Clarke’s, a time-honored bar and restaurant in NYC that’s rich in history and teeming with character. It’s not every day you get to hang out where Buddy Holly famously proposed to his bride-to-be after knowing her for just five hours, right?
And if you’re a burger aficionado, you can’t miss the chance to sink your teeth into what Nat King Cole dubbed “The Cadillac of burgers!” The juicy bacon cheeseburger here is a gastronomic delight that’s stuck around, much like the stories that echo within these walls.
P.J. Clarke’s became a coveted spot in the post-Prohibition era. It was Frank Sinatra’s regular haunt where he often claimed Table #20 until closing time, and Johnny Mercer even penned “One for My Baby” on a humble bar napkin here.
The place is as genuine as they come, and despite P.J. Clarke himself passing away in 1948 and the restaurant being sold to the Lavezzos, his neighbors, the joint hasn’t lost an ounce of its original charm.
So, whether it’s the historical allure, the famous burgers, or the chance to sit where Sinatra once did that tempts you, P.J. Clarke’s is a must-visit spot when you’re in the Big Apple.

Cornerstone Tavern
Bar in Midtown ManhattanAdd to myNY addedIn Midtown East, you’ll find the Cornerstone Tavern, which is a well-known local spot for Kansas fans who will no doubt fill the place up to watch the Jayhawks. It’s been rumored that Xan Garcia, the owner, wants to place some big screens outside, but she first needs to ensure that the city is on board with that plan. If their newest plan doesn’t come to fruition, you can expect the same service from years past, including deals on seven-pint beer towers and the fan-favorite onion dip with Old Bay chips.

Magic Hour Rooftop Bar & Lounge
Rooftop Bar in Garment DistrictAdd to myNY addedThe Magic Hour Rooftop Bar & Lounge is located on the 18th floor of the Moxy Times Square Hotel and offers magnificent views over the city. The entrance hall resembles a gallery, with a few whimsical animal figures in naughty positions. The style of the small indoor lounge is urban-industrial, while the two outdoor areas have an almost contrasting design: If you like to enjoy the view of the Empire State Building, you should have a drink on the elegantly designed east side. If you prefer something fancier, head to the western area of the bar, as it features rotating seating, reminiscent of an antique carousel.

Ophelia Lounge NYC
Bar in Midtown ManhattanAdd to myNY addedOphelia is one of the newest additions to the local bar scene in Midtown East. The beautiful bar in NYC comes with 360-degree views of the East River and Manhattan skyline. Here we were sceptical at first, because after the new opening a huge PR wave started. Everyone was talking about how great and good Ophelia is. Even though we were in NYC at that exact time, we wanted to wait for the first wave of euphoria and so we were there only recently. The Ophelia is on our best list because they surprised us positively: great drinks, a very nice and harmonious interior and a wonderful view. A tiny little area is even open like a rooftop bar – what more could you want?

Pete's Tavern
Bar in GramercyAdd to myNY addedPete’s Tavern is America’s oldest continuously running bar and restaurant, nestled in Gramercy Park. This historical gem has been serving patrons since 1864, despite its many changes. Originally a ‘grocery and grog store’ in the Portman Hotel, it transitioned to ‘Healy’s Café’ in 1899 before finally becoming Pete’s Tavern in 1922. The 40-foot rosewood bar, decorative back bar, tin ceiling, and tile floor are all original, dating back to 1864. Even the bar room booths and overhead cabinets are from the restaurant’s inception. A fun fact: renowned author O. Henry, who lived nearby, wrote “The Gift of the Magi” in one of their booths in 1903.
