Basically everything you need to know about Brooklyn Nets games!

The Brooklyn Nets

basketball_nets-smallThe Brooklyn Nets are currently on their fourth franchise name. The name changes were always the result of moving into different areas of the city. First they were called the New Jersey Americans, then the New York Nets, subsequently the New Jersey Nets, and since 2012 they are known as the Brooklyn Nets. Their new home is the beautiful Barclays Center, opened by none other than Jay-Z (also: he is one of the team owners!). Moving the team to Brooklyn and building a new stadium were part of an initiative to restore Downtown Brooklyn to its original luster. While this initiative met with skepticism early on, locals are now proud of their team.

History and Successes of the Brooklyn Nets

The Brooklyn Nets have been playing in the NBA since 1967 and have weathered a series of moves and name changes. Following a turbulent history, the team has significantly stabilized in the last few years and is now a regular contender in the season play-offs.

Where do the Brooklyn Nets play? The Brooklyn Nets play at the beautiful Barclays Center in Brooklyn, which can accommodate 18,000 screaming fans.
Barclays Center is easily accessible by subway: lines 2, 3, 4, 5, B and Q service the stadium – you can get there in less than 30 minutes. The official name of the station is “Atlantic Av – Barclays Ctr.”. You can’t miss it – just follow the crowds!

How early should you get to the stadium? I recommend getting to the stadium one hour before game start. This will allow you to avoid the long wait lines that generally form right before the game, plus you will have the opportunity to take a closer look at the arena and watch the teams warm up.

The Brooklyn Nets have great fans and the atmosphere at the games is electrifying. You should go to a game just to experience this incredible level of energy – you won’t regret it! Here you can see what’s in store for you at a Brooklyn Nets game:
