James Earl Jones Theatre Tickets + Guide 2024
The James Earl Jones Theatre was originally built for and named after John Cort who was the general manager of the Northwestern Theatrical Association. With its acquisition by the Shuberts in 1927, the Golden Theatre holds a unique distinction as the only remaining theater on Broadway designed by architect Thomas Lamb.
The theatre’s exterior draws inspiration from the 18th-century French Petit Trianon, while the interior reflects the influence of Louis XVI’s era, featuring a lobby adorned with Pavanozza marble and Marie Antoinette plasterwork. In 2022, the theater was renamed in honor of James Earl Jones, who made his Broadway debut there in 1958.
