Located near the Lower East Side Tenement Museum, the Woodward Gallery is a contemporary fine arts gallery that you will be happy you visited. It was founded in 1994 by John Woodward and Kristine Woodward, a husband and wife team. Their focus is on celebrating culture through inclusivity, and have worked to collaborate with their professional contacts to help find those rare pieces of art.

The gallery started out in Soho, and moved a few times, before ending up in the Lower East Side.

Woodward Gallery supports urban art, up and coming artists, as well as established artists. They have worked with the City of New York, CARSI Labs, Hunter College, and CUNY to collaborate and make a 9/11 exhibition that traveled since 2002. They have an off-site art program located at 60 Pine Street, but it is closed due to COVID.

Their focus is on corporate and private portfolios and have everything from artists such as Pablo Picasso, Andy Warhol, and Jean Michel Basquiat, and much much more.

Current and upcoming exhibits

  • 12 in 24 - GROUP EXHIBITION (April - July 2024 | 60 Pine Street)

Where is the Woodward Gallery located?

They are located at 132A Eldridge Street in the Lower East Side, and you can schedule an appointment with them for a visit. They also have a street level viewing of some of the art that you can visit 24/7.

What can you do after visiting the Woodward Gallery?

If you want to visit more art galleries, I recommend the McKenzie Fine Art, the Front Room Gallery or the Klaus von Nichtssagend Gallery. If photography interests you, you should visit the International Center of Photography Museum. I also love the Tenement Museum, which shows you what life was like for immigrants in NYC around 1860.

All spots are less than a 5 minute walk away.
