Westlight in Brooklyn is one of the most gorgeous rooftop bars in New York and I got to experience it first-hand during my most recent visit. Sitting atop the William Vale Hotel in Brooklyn’s Williamsburg neighborhood, it has everything you could want: a rooftop bar, a lounge area, a bar, and a restaurant.
What sets Westlight NYC apart from many other spots, including fellow rooftop bars, is the 100% unobstructed, panoramic view of Brooklyn, Queens, and Manhattan. If you are looking for a rooftop bar that combines nothing but the best of everything, there’s hardly any way past Westlight. Yet, it’s not only the impressive views that fascinated me but also the relaxed and uncomplicated atmosphere. While many rooftop bars rather tend to be somewhat snobby and elitist, you’ll truly feel welcome at Westlight in Brooklyn.

Relaxing rooftop bar with unparalleled views
Above you can see exactly where Tino and I spent several hours during our last visit. If it had been up to me, we could have sat here forever. Taking in the sweeping views while enjoying a glass of wine was topped by relaxing lounge music that was playing in the background. The setting was flawless and the views never got boring. In fact, it was rather the contrary. Experiencing the sunset from the rooftop bar at Westlight Brooklyn was beyond magical.
FAQ about Westlight NYC
Can children visit Westlight in Brooklyn?
Yes! If you’re planning to spend some time at Westlight with your children, you can do so as long as you schedule your visit to be in the morning or afternoon, as minors (under 21) will not be allowed to enter after 6 pm.
What’s the average price of a drink at Westlight?
Just to give you a reference, a cocktail will cost you $18, a beer $9, and a cappuccino $7. After all, you’re not only paying for your top-notch drink but also for this gorgeous location and its mesmerizing views of the city. For me, it was more than worth it!
What does the Westlight NYC menu have to offer?
Beyond a large selection of cocktails, beers, and wines, Westlight in Brooklyn also offers small plates such as potato skins, olives, and tacos. Even though a visit is already worth it for the views alone, you can check the Westlight menu beforehand to ensure that it is to your liking.
Do I need reservations for the Westlight rooftop bar?
Westlight has become an extremely popular rooftop bar in New York. Reservations are not required, however, I do recommend making some if Westlight NYC is on your bucket list. It’s always good to have a guaranteed table, especially on a Saturday. Simply reserve through the official website or through OpenTable.
What’s the best time to visit Westlight in Brooklyn?
Saturdays are typically the most crowded days at Westlight NYC, which is why it may not be the best day to visit. I do recommend stopping by on a Monday evening if you happen to be in New York on that day of the week. Starting at 7:30 pm, you’ll not only get to enjoy signature cocktails and, again, panoramic views but also live jazz and funk music. Simply great!
