Warning: High likelihood of celebrity sightings! The Mercer Hotel New York is located in SoHo – one of the most exclusive areas in all of New York. Owned by hotelier Andre Balazs who also operates other stylish hotels such as “The Standard High Line” and “The Standard East Village“, The Mercer Hotel New York is favored by many celebrities. Recently, the hotel hosted the collaboration of Kanye West and Jay-Z (in 2011). Several songs featured on their album, “Watch the Throne”, were recorded at the Mercer. An entire floor was transformed into a recording studio for the event.
The location is fantastic: only 5 minutes on foot from Washington Square Park and Little Italy. The hotel is also a great starting point for visiting One World Trade Center, for example.
2. Rooms & hotel staff
The hotel’s 75 guest rooms are spread over 6 floors and are decorated in a loft style. From the outside, the hotel has an industrial look. The combination works well and the result is an exceptional property. Many claim it is the best in all of New York. The contrast of old and new, ornate and sleek is something that we adore.
As one would expect from a hotel in this category, personnel and service are first class.
3. Restaurant, Bar and Club
The Mercer Hotel New York is also home to a very elegant restaurant “(The Mercer) Kitchen”, led by Jean-Georges Vongerichten. A very high recommendation!

- Mulberry Street Bar: in close proximity to the hotel, you will find Mulberry Street Bar. You may recognize it from shows like Donnie Brasco, The Sopranos, and Law & Order, which were filmed here.
