A very unique restaurant in New York’s Financial District is Trinity Place. Why? You eat in the vault of a converted bank! You can eat really good Irish-American food in a great ambience at Trinity Place.

I was there in the summer and was really excited. Not far from the National 9/11 Memorial with the One World Observatory, it is located in the Trinity and United States Realty Building between Broadway and Trinity Place.

Interieur

As soon as you open the door, you’re in another world. You enter the Irish-American restaurant through an impossibly thick steel door from the vault, and where cash and gold were once stored is now a 12-foot-long dark oak bar, tables and leather seats. Lots of dark wood, classy decor and soft lighting create a really nice atmosphere.

Food & Drinks

You can eat really well at Trinity Place: we had filet steak with broccoli (perfectly seared, $34), Organic Salmon ($29) and as an appetizer a Caesar Salad ($14). All dishes were top notch!

Other highlights on the menu at Trinity Place Restaurant were the Trinity Wagyu Burger and the Risotto with Duck Leg Confit. So there should be something for everyone.

For dessert, the Sticky Toffee Pudding was recommended, and the Crème Brulee and New York Cheesecake also made it to our table (all $12, we were a large group).

There’s a wide selection of drinks: there are various bubbles, a long list of reds and whites of various varietals (by the glass from $11, by the bottle from $44), 14 varieties of draft beer ($9) and, of course, cocktails ($16)

Monday through Friday (3 p.m. to 5 p.m.) is happy hour!

If you’re sitting at the bar you should try the mini wagyu cheese burgers ($3.50), they were a big hit during my visit.

So Is The Trinity Place Worth Visiting?

Steffen Kneist Loving New York

My conclusion

The opportunity to eat lunch or dinner in a 1904 vault in a former bank is rare indeed. What I found great about Trinity Place is the high quality of food and super-nice service. And they’ve kept a great charm to the vault – so I highly recommend it!

My tip: O’Hara’s Pub is just a few steps away. It is an iconic institution in NYC!
