When you think of the Christmas tree in New York, the first thing that comes to mind is definitely the Rockefeller Christmas Tree. But did you know that there is also an official tree-lighting ceremony in Winter Village in Bryant Park? The Christmas tree is not quite as big as the one at Rockefeller Center but still very beautiful and impressive! It’s also a wonderful photo spot because the Christmas tree is right in front of the New York Public Library.

When is the Tree Lighting Show in Bryant Park?
The Bryant Park Tree Lightning Show will take place again in 2023. The event kicks off at 6 p.m. on November 28.
What can you expect at the Tree Lighting Show?
Highlights include the Classical Theatre of Harlem‘s Christmas Choir. Also really impressive will be the performance by Mirai Nagasu – she is a multiple-time U.S. champion figure skater and a member of the USA National Team. Also performing will be two-time World Champion Meagan Duhamel and multiple Canadian Champion Dylan Moskovitch, as well as Shawn Sawyer. As you can see, the performance is guaranteed to be top-notch!
What else you can look forward to is “The Haydenettes”. They are the counterpart of the famous “The Rockettes“, only that they perform their tricks synchronously on the ice as a group.
Especially for the children, however, someone else will play the starring role: Santa Claus! He will also be featured at the Tree Lighting Show at Bank of America Winter Village. Then, to top it off, there will be fireworks!
When should you be here?
For me, the ice skating rink at Bryant Park Winter Village is one of the most beautiful places in New York where you can skate. Even without the Christmas tree lighting ceremony, it’s always busy. It will be packed for this event, so be sure to be dressed warmly and get there about two hours early. You won’t get bored, because there is a lot to see!
What can you do after the Tree Lighting Show in Winter Village?
First of all, take your time to see the Winter Village for yourself and maybe even go ice skating. After that, you have the option to either walk towards Times Square (there are many beautiful Broadway shows and musicals to experience) or walk down 5th Avenue towards the Rockefeller Christmas Tree.
By the way: very close to Bryant Park Winter Village is the Refinery Rooftop. This is one of my absolute favorite spots in NYC!
