The South Street Seaport in New York City is one of the most beautiful and well-preserved areas of the 19th century. The monuments fill this neighborhood where Fulton Street meets the East River. Within proximity to the Brooklyn Bridge and areas like Wall Street, it is the home of the many iconic old trading buildings. Due to various upgrades, the area is only becoming more modern while holding on to it’s historic charm!

As you stroll through the South Street Seaport, many visitors realize one thing, you feel like you’ve traveled back into time. Everything looks more like a movie set and can seem like it doesn’t in with the rest of Lower Manhattan. Old business buildings shine next to one another. In addition, the cobblestone streets show clear traces of the history. It’s a mix of true beauty!

Furthermore you will find shops, eateries, and landmarks at the Seaport. Numerous events are also held here such as the Seaport Music Festival, food markets, and pop up shops. The restaurants and bars that make fill the Seaport are wonderful due to the views and food. Therefore, the locals gather love to gather here on a nice day. If you walk about three minutes towards the East River, you will find beautiful views of the old Sailing ships, the Brooklyn Bridge and the skyline of Lower Manhattan. A great place to hang out in the summer is Pier 17. It’s the newest performance venue and offers spectacular views of the East River.

The South Street Seaport Museum is located in the historic neighborhood of the original New York City port. Within the area there is a an iconic working press, an archeology museum, a library, a craft center, the Marine Life Conservation Lab, and the largest fleet of historic ships in private ownership in the United States.
