Attention food enthusiasts: NYC Restaurant Week is back, meaning you can look forward to enjoying cheap meals all over the city. Thousands of travelers and locals look forward to this event every year because it’s a great opportunity to try new cuisines or simply enjoy top-notch meals at decent prices.

My tip: NYC Broadway Week and NYC Must-See Week take place at the same time as NYC Restaurant Week.

What is NYC Restaurant Week?

NYC Restaurant Week is a bi-annual event that takes place every summer and winter since 1982. Back then only a few restaurants participated in the promotion, whereas this year’s event counts almost 500 participating restaurants. Over time, the length of the promotion has been extended, so that now we can enjoy almost a full month of great, affordable food instead of just one week.

When is NYC Restaurant Week?

The NYC Restaurant Week event takes place every summer and every winter in New York, typically in January/February as well as July/August.

This year the NYC Winter Restaurant Week will take place from January 16 to February 4, 2024!

From January 9, 2024, you can make your reservations at the restaurants.

Participating restaurants

Among this season’s NYC Restaurant Week’s participants (more than 600!), you will find new trendy restaurants but also well established fine-dine restaurants. Cuisines include Contemporary American, Italian, Chinese, Mexican, French, Mediterranean, Greek, Middle Eastern, Thai, Japanese and Korean – just to name a few.

In short: There’s a restaurant for everyone! And what’s best is that they are spread throughout all five boroughs with the majority being located in Manhattan.

25 TOP restaurants participating in Restaurant Week 2024

Here you can find some of our favorites:

  1. Food Photography New York City Boucherie

    01 Boucherie West Village

Around NYC, you’ll find four Boucherie sister restaurants, all of which will offer a special menu for Thanksgiving dinner. The dinner will consist of a roasted turkey smothered with truffle ballotine, brussels sprouts, sweet potato au gratin, cranberry compote, chanterelles, and turkey for $48 per person. This year’s famed dessert is priced at $15 for a slice of cheesecake topped with spiced caramel and pecans.

  2. Dos_Caminos

    02 Dos Caminos Meatpacking District

Dos Casminos is especially known for its spicy guacamole and the very good sangria. The charm that the restaurant exudes in each of the 5 locations is absolutely authentic Mexican and provides a successful change after a long working day or a strenuous sightseeing day.

  3. red_rooster_Things_To_Do_In_Harlem_181126094731008_1

    03 Red Rooster

The Red Rooster is an absolute institution and an integral part of the Harlem community. Located near the famous Apollo Theatre, the restaurant named after the legendary Harlem Speakeasy was located at 138th Street and 7th Avenue. This pleasant, colourful atmosphere was to be revived with the Red Rooster – and it really succeeded in creating a great atmosphere. The place does not only offer soul food but also cooking classes and live music.

  7. The Best Christmas Restaurants in NYC

    07 Tavern on the Green

Right on the western edge of Central Park is the popular restaurant Tavern on the Green. Here you can expect a chic ambience with English charm and a cosy outdoor terrace.

  8. Restaurant-170423115755029

    08 Cipriani Dolci

Located directly in Grand Central Terminal, Cipriani Dolci is an exceptional Italian restaurant. Opened in March 2002, Cipriani Dolci quickly made a name for itself with great service and an affordable menu. Visually, the restaurant blends in beautifully with the magnificent Grand Central Terminal.

In addition to delicious meals, you can also enjoy great cocktails here.

  9. Brunch

    09 Hearth

Another East Village spot that I regularly visit is Hearth. With a focus on sustainable, clean eating, it’s where brunch is not just a meal, but an experience. Their whipped ricotta toast with poached apple and candied pepitas is heavenly, as is the Cacio e Pepe Polenta.

And for something sweet, you can’t go wrong with the Apple Crumb Muffin. Just make sure you wash it all down with The Beekeeper, a zesty gin and lemon cocktail. When you brunch at Hearth, you’re not just filling your belly, you’re nourishing your soul – as the name would suggest!

  10. Noreetuh food

    10 Noreetuh

Noreetuh isn’t your ordinary brunch spot in the East Village. It’s a modern Hawaiian restaurant where you’ll find brunch that embraces Hawaii’s Japanese, Polynesian, and American influences. Here, renowned Chef Chung Chow, an alum of Per Se, makes magic in the kitchen every Saturday and Sunday, from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm.

One of the must-try dishes? The Mochiko Chicken Loco Moco – a feast of fried dark meat chicken, graced with rich gravy and served with fried eggs and Hawaiian macaroni salad. Tip: order the King’s Hawaiian rolls as a side. Not to mention, they also sport an award-winning wine list, craft beers, and specialty sakes! Just remember, last call is at 2:15 pm, so don’t miss out!

My tip: Noreetuh has recently launched an exciting new cocktail program! Created by Courtney Smith and Ye Htoo Khaing Win, the menu now features unique Hawaiian-inspired tiki cocktails. For example, the Hawaiian Firefly combines jalapeños and rosemary with Casamigos Blanco, Aperol, lime juice, passion fruit puree and agave syrup, shaken and then served in a short tiki glass with a sprig of rosemary and a slice of jalapeño. Sounds delicious, right? But you can also order an Amaretto Colada or a Hawaiian Rose. All of these cocktails are also served with brunch.

  11. 221214105425003_Antica_Pesa_Brooklyn_New_York

    11 Antica Pesa Brooklyn

Antica Pesa Brooklyn is an Italian restaurant in Williamsburg that is owned by four generations of the Panella family. Their first restaurant opened in Rome 1922, and the Williamsburg location recently celebrated its 10th anniversary.

If you like Italian cuisine, you should stop by here. They serve classic Italian dishes with a modern twist in a very beautiful and romantic surrounding.

Also wonderful: every Thursday you can enjoy live jazz here!

  12. IMG_3163

    12 ABC Kitchen

The ABC Kitchen serves Slow Food – the opposite of fast food and a declaration of love for our planet. Only the freshest ingredients, supplied by local farmers, are put on the plate. The dishes change seasonally and are free of pesticides, antibiotics, hormones and genetic engineering. The prices are more than reasonable for the quality of the ingredients and the service.

  13. 13 Sarabeth's Upper West Side

Amidst the hustle and bustle of Amsterdam Ave, Sarabeth’s humble facade can be easily overlooked. Yet, this petite storefront serves some of the best brunch food in the Upper West Side and has done so since 1983. What I love most about this restaurant is that it brings a certain class to your brunch.

Picture expertly poached eggs on a fluffy corn muffin partnered with zesty greens. Yes, I’m talking about their smoked salmon benedict! But it doesn’t stop there! Sarabeth’s morphed from a tiny bakery-kitchen selling preserves and baked goods to one of the best brunch restaurants adored by locals and visitors alike.

For a taste of their legacy, the Fat & Fluffy French Toast with strawberries or the Lemon & Ricotta Pancakes with blackberries are my top picks. And their delicious Eggs and Lox never miss the mark either. So, no matter what you eat, don’t miss this unassuming spot!

  14. Steak

    14 Bacall's Family Steakhouse

Bacall’s Family Steakhouse is one of the most highly regarded restaurants in NYC, known for its delicious steaks and romantic ambiance. Located in the heart of Manhattan, Bacall’s is the perfect spot for a special dinner with your loved one.

The restaurant offers a wide selection of succulent steaks, including filet mignon, ribeye, and New York strip, all cooked to perfection and served with your choice of sides. In addition to the steaks, Bacall’s also has a selection of seafood dishes, including lobster tail and pan-seared salmon, as well as vegetarian options.

  15. 15 The Ribbon

Situated on the Upper West Side, The Ribbon represents the quintessential New York restaurant experience. From their extensive wine list and craft cocktails to their mastery of American classics with a hint of French influence, there’s no better Thanksgiving dinner than that at The Ribbon NYC.

Start your meal with a Treviso and Endive salad or stuffed butternut squash before moving on to the main course of Atlantic Salmon or traditional ham or turkey. Don’t forget to leave room for dessert! Enjoy a decadent piece of pumpkin bread pudding or pecan pie.

  16. Manhatta Best Rooftop Restaurants In NYC

    16 Manhatta

The restaurant Manhatta is one of the best restaurants in town and is perfect if you are looking for a restaurant for a special occasion. Not only is the food here at the highest level – so are you! Located on the 60th floor, it offers you a magnificent view of the city!

  17. 17 Veselka

And don’t let anyone else tell you that your East Village journey is complete without visiting Veselka, the Ukrainian coffee shop. Nestled at the corner of East Ninth Street and Second Avenue, this iconic 24-hour diner has been serving heartwarming fare since 1954.

I highly recommend the signature brunch pierogi, a delightful mix of bacon, scrambled eggs, Vermont cheddar, and chipotle ketchup. If you’re an eggs benedict fan, their Salmon Latka version with smoked salmon, potato pancakes, and hollandaise sauce will wow you! Plus, their Eggnog French toast and hearty breakfast menu are available anytime, day or night.

Just a short walk from the vibrant Astor Place, Veselka is a must-visit brunch restaurant in the East Village. Just keep in mind that the brunch magic only occurs on weekends and holidays from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.

  18. Haven_Rooftop_Bar_New_York_02

    18 Haven Rooftop & Restaurant

In the heart of the Theatre District on Times Square you will find the Haven Rooftop & Restaurant. It is on the 10th floor of the Sanctuary Hotel at 47th Street between 6th and 7th Avenue and offers you a sensational perspective. Although it is in Times Square, it is surprisingly quiet. I love the mix of “being in the middle of the city” and “still having peace and quiet” – and that’s exactly what you can expect there.

  19. Jacobs Pickles

    19 Jacobs Pickles

If you’re looking for some great Southern-style comfort food, then Jacob’s Pickles on the Upper West Side is a great place to start.

  22. Carmine_s_Italian_Restaurant_190130105941015

    22 Carmine's Italian Restaurant

I love the concept of Carmine’s: the portions are huge and – like an Italian family meal – are meant to be shared. Just put them in the middle of the table, add a glass of red wine and you feel like in Italy! The waiters are super-nice and the restaurant itself is suitable for families with children. I was there with my family (2 children) and both of my friends were delighted.

  23. Brunch at Pig and Khao
Credit/photo courtesy to Pig and Khao

    23 Pig And Khao

Imagine you’re just around the corner from Nathan Stratus Playground, in the heart of the Lower East Side, and your tummy grumbles for some rowdy brunch fun. Enter Pig And Khao! This Southeast Asian restaurant oozes a lively atmosphere that’s perfect for a brunch that could well extend into an afternoon adventure.

Brunch hours run on weekdays from 5 pm, and on weekends it’s a two-part saga, 11 am to 3 pm and 5 pm till close. During these times, you’ll enjoy an exciting menu of favorites like green papaya salad, sizzling pork sisig, or the comforting French Toast. Bottomless mimosas? They got you covered for just $21 per person. If you want my recommendation, I suggest you try the Steak and Eggs with the mimosas, and thank me later!

  24. 210505154613002_Benjamins_Steakhouse_New_York

    24 Benjamin Steakhouse

Located in the heart of Midtown East, Benjamin Prime is a sleek and modern steakhouse that is an excellent choice for a romantic Valentine’s Day dinner in New York City. The restaurant features stylish and sophisticated decor, with dark wood accents, leather banquettes, and dim lighting that creates a romantic and intimate atmosphere.

Regarding NYC Valentine’s Day restaurants 2022, Benjamin Prime typically offers a special menu featuring a variety of high-quality steaks and other meat dishes and a selection of seafood and vegetarian options. The restaurant is known for its excellent wine list, which includes a wide range of red wines that are carefully chosen to pair with the menu.

  25. 25 Little Owl

Let’s journey to Little Owl, an amazing spot tucked away in Greenwich Village, just a stroll from its sister restaurants, The Mary Lane, Market Table & The Clam. Open for weekend brunch from 9 am until 3 pm; it’s nestled right under the apartments that inspired the TV show Friends!

Now, when it comes to food, Chef Joey Campanaro serves a Mediterranean twist on traditional brunch dishes that never fail to impress. One of my all-time favorites at Little Owl is the Smoked Salmon Scramble, but if my sweet tooth beckons, I give into the Brioche French Toast with stewed berry sauce. And, of course, their Poached Egg served with fontina biscuits, breakfast patties, greens & hollandaise is always a great choice.
