Three New York City library systems â Brooklyn, Queens, and New York public libraries â offer the NYC Culture Pass. Pass owners are able to access 50 cultural institutions in New York for free. Great attractions like the Whitney Museum, the Brooklyn Botanical Garden or Hudson Yards cultural melting pot The Shed are on the list.
In order to benefit from the NYC culture pass, you need to have your own library card from either the New York Public Library (Manhattan, the Bronx, and Staten Island), the Queens Library or the Brooklyn Public Library.
You donât have a library card yet? No problem! You can simply apply online at all three librariesâ websites. Each library has different requirements, but the application process is super easy. New passes are released three months in advance on the first day of every month.
How do you use the NYC culture pass?
Once youâre the proud owner of the NYC culture pass, it is time to start saving money. So letâs clarify how to use the NYC culture pass correctly. You must be at least 13 years old to reserve a pass. There are a few easy steps to follow in order to use your NYC culture pass:
- Go to the Culture Pass website and click on your library system.
- Log in to the Culture Pass reservations system using your library card credentials.
- Search for passes by date or venue of preference
- Make a reservation of your choice.
- Print or download your pass before you visit the attraction.
Frequently Asked Questions about the New York Culture Pass
Can I bring a guest?
Yes! One pass is usually valid for two people (yourself and a guest). Certain places even allow a family of four to get in for free. The website will tell you how many people itâs good for. Keep in mind that you can only request a pass for an attraction once per year. After you visited the institution, you will have to wait until next year to go again.
Which cultural institutions are included in the Culture Pass NYC?
There is a full list of attractions that are included in the culture pass for New York City. Here you can find the participating organizations. Sometimes an attraction can be busy and your date of wish is not available. Simply try another date in order to visit the location of your choice.
Iâm only visiting New York, can I get a Culture Pass as well?
Unfortunately, no! Only New York residents are eligible for the NYC culture pass. While signing up, youâll get asked for a State ID and proof of living in New York. Â The Culture Pass was designed for locals only.
Is there a mobile version of the NYC Culture Pass?
Yes, you can access the Culture Pass website with your phone. Unfortunately, there is no Culture Pass NYC app just yet.
