This helicopter tour is the longest flight over NYC that you can take. With a flight time of 28-30 minutes, the helicopter tour will give you some amazing views over the boroughs of Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Coney Island and give you ample of time to shoot some amazing photos. Having taken the tour in 2015, we can attest to the fact that this is a truly special experience that you will not be forgetting anytime soon. Giving you a comprehensive impression of Manhattan and its surrounding boroughs, this is one of the best ways to explore the city – both for those on their first trip to the Big Apple, as well as for those looking to discover the city from a new angle.

NYC helicopter tour start – Manhattan

To start your flight over the city of New York you will takeoff from the Downtown Manhattan heliport and launch into flight towards the Statue of Liberty. You will then take a turn East as you fly over Governors Island and will soon see the busy Verrazano Bridge (once the longest suspension bridge in the world) in the distance. Flying directly over the bridge is an experience you won’t soon forget – it is a truly amazing perspective of one of NYC landmarks. The tour takes you all the way over Coney Island, where you will recognize the famous amusement park with its ferris wheel and long beach. Coney Island is definitely worth a visit in the summer!

Eye to Eye with the Statue of Liberty

Your helicopter tour will head back towards the southern tip of Manhattan after Coney Island, which is the most southern point of the route. On the way, your helicopter tour will also loop around the Statue of Liberty, making sure you get some breathtaking pictures as you around it.

Helicopter tour over the Financial District, One World Trade Center, and Hudson River

The tour then takes you north across the Hudson River. On your right, you will see the Financial District from far above, in the midst of which you will see the One World Trade Center tower above the other skyscrapers. Further ahead of you, you will be able to make out Chelsea Piers and the High Line Park. The buildings in these areas are not as tall as in southern Manhattan due to restrictions. Nonetheless, The Empire State Building, Chrysler Building, and the tallest residential building, “432 Park Ave” (the one that looks like a needle located directly next to Central Park) are just a few of the striking skyscrapers you will recognize in this part of town.

Don’t forget to look down during your helicopter tour!

During your helicopter tour over NYC, don’t forget to look down! When you do you will realize how many boats, ships, and ferries are cruising through the waters around New York City. From above, they look like miniature vessels. The blue of the water that these are swimming on is a great contrast to the green of the Riverside Park (same height as Central Park), that looks like a ribbon following the contours of the Hudson River. It is a favorite of many bikers, in-line skaters, and joggers in the city.

Central Park is also impressive from above and you will first gain an impression of how huge the park really is. You can make out the lakes and ponds, green lawns, and lots of trees. The New York Yankee stadium will also catch your eye. To the north, you will fly over the George Washington Bridge and the tip of the island of Manhattan – only the “New York Helicopter Tour: Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Coney Island” covers all of this.

From there, you turn back flying across the Hudson to Downtown Manhattan, then around the southern tip where you can see the Staten Island Ferry Terminal before you land again at the Downtown Manhattan Heliport.

Speaking from experience, we promise you that a helicopter tour of New York is one of the most impressive ways to discover and experience the city. We have taken several NYC helicopter tours and were thrilled every time!
