Looking for the best military discounts in New York City? In this article you’ll find over 30 attractions and tours that offer either free admission or great discounts for veterans, military, and military families. All of the military discounts for NYC listed here I have researched myself because I wanted to find out the best and most up-to-date military discounts for hotels, attractions, tours, cruises and even helicopter rides.
Some attractions in New York offer free admission or discounts only on special events like Memorial Day (weekend), Labor Day, or Veterans Day. At other attractions and museums, military discounts apply all year long. See my full list to determine when specific discounts are available.
If one of New York’s museums participates in the Blue Star program, free admission is valid from Armed Forces Day (mid-May) through Labor Day (early September). Anyone currently serving the United States Military in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard (including Reservists), National Guardsman, U.S. Public Health Commissioned Corps, or NOAA Commissioned Corps receives free admission for up to five family members.

If you would like to purchase tickets with a military discount for the Edge observation deck, there are two options:
- You can call them to confirm you have a military ID and they will process your order directly via phone at 332-204-8500 between 9AM-7PM EST. Please consider contacting them via phone, as they cannot accept payment information by email.
- You can purchase tickets at the Edge Box Office located on Level 4 of the Shops & Restaurants at Hudson Yards. Please bring your military ID with you to complete your purchase.

To get the military discount for Statue of Liberty tickets please call 888-957-2634 or purchase tickets at the ticket counter at Castle Clinton in Battery Park. Please bring your military ID with you to complete your purchase.

But you can save not only on attractions and tours, but also on train connections to and from New York City. The MTA offers these discounts:
- Long Island Rail Road (LIRR): “All active-duty military personnel will be charged off-peak fare at all times.”
- For Metro-North: “Active-duty military personnel receive 25% off the one-way station fare. The ticket is valid for 60 days from the date of purchase for peak and off-peak travel on all Metro-North trains.”
- Citi Bike New York: They are offering a Veterans and Military Discount ($35 Off Annual Memberships) to all active, reservist, veteran and retired US military personnel. Get more information here.

In most cases, you can get free admission or your military discount right at the ticket booth when you are in New York.
For other attractions, you can easily book your tickets in advance through official websites; have your military ID available when doing so. I have provided you with the corresponding links in my list.

Not really. On the popular booking sites like Booking.com or TripAdvisor they claim to offer them, but you can’t find any way to specify your military ID when booking.
My tip:
- Use my hotel finder for New York if you are looking for hotel tips or inspiration
- Then, check the official hotel website and DO NOT use hotel booking sites like Booking, Expedia, etc.
- Check with the hotel by phone or email before your trip.
Are there military discounts for Broadway shows in NYC?
No, there are no special discounts or promotions for musicals.
Are there military discounts in NYC on helicopter flights?
Yes, HeliNY offers USA Military discounts with proof of military ID. The discount applies 25% off the entire booking, which is great news!

No, I checked with my contacts at the vendors and there are no additional discounts, mainly because they are trying to offer the lowest possible prices to all customers.

Yes! Please choose “MILITARY” as option when booking tickets online. The reduced ticket price is $40. Family members must pay the full rate.

Yes! There is a military discount for the Statue of Liberty. It is valid any day of the year besides are holiday dining cruises. The military discount of 15% is valid for every military person in the group not the whole group.
Is there an American Museum of Natural History Military Discount?
Yes! Thanks to the Blue Star program admission is free for U.S. military and their families (from Armed Forces Day to Labor Day). The rest of the year free general admission is provided to members U.S. military and one guest.
Is there a Top of the Rock Military Discount?
Yes! The Top of the Rock provides a Military discount on tickets purchased directly from them. With one valid military ID, you are permitted to purchase up to 5 tickets at $20 + tax per person. The discount can only be applied in person at the box office for USA Active Duty Military and their dependents.
Is there a military discount for 9/11 Memorial Museum?
Yes. The 9/11 Memorial Museum offers free admission to US Military and Veterans. In addition to that they offer discounts for the families during their Salute-To-Service week around Veteran’s Day.
Is there a military discount for Intrepid Museum?
Yes! Active duty military from all over the world and U.S. veterans get complimentary General Admission. There is a 20% discount on a General Admission ticket for the spouse of active duty military at the box office but that doesn’t extend to other family members or children.
