Who is Madame Tussaud?

Marie Tussaud was born in Strasbourg, France and in 1778, created her first wax figure of the famous French writer and philosopher, François-Marie Arouet Voltaire. She moved to England in 1802 to exhibit her work there. Following her death, her sons inherited the famous wax figures which were then displayed in the first Madame Tussauds museum in London. Today, these wax museums can be found throughout the world and the replicas they exhibit always reflect the celebrities of the country and city in which they are located.
