More details about myNY

To me, nothing goes better together than New York City and jazz. I also love to see the skyline from the water while sailing, and all of that comes together in this sailing tour. I just had to try it out, and can say I was thrilled with the experience! It is definitely one of the best boat tours I have ever done in NYC.

Having already done the daytime Statue of Liberty sailing tour and the sunset sailing tour, this live jazz sailing tour was the ultimate step up from all of them.

Route and highlights of the Live Jazz City Lights Sail

The sailing tour starts at Pier 62 at Chelsea Piers, not far from Hudson Yards. Again, Shanan was the skipper, and she was also on board during the other sailing trips we took. The jazz band consisted of three people with a wide variety of jazz styles in their portfolio.

After a short safety briefing, we set off on the Hudson River. Shortly thereafter, the sails were hoisted (it took three crew members at once) and we sailed with relaxed jazz sounds towards the Statue of Liberty.

My tip for Jazz Lovers: here you can find the best jazz clubs in NYC.

Always in view: the all-overlooking One World Trade Center. On the way there (as you can see from my pictures) you will see all of the important skyscrapers that define the skyline of New York City. From The Edge to the new Summit One Vanderbilt, to the Empire State Building and One World Trade Center. The New Jersey skyline was also beautiful to see.

Compared to daytime sailing, we didn’t get quite as close to the Statue of Liberty this time. From harbor, we sailed all the way to Hudson Yards and Pier 62, always with the wonderful jazz sounds of the band in the background.

Duration and tickets

The Live Jazz City Lights Sail tour starts at 9:30pm in the evening, so you will see New York City in the dark with the many reflections of the lights on the Hudson River right from the start. In total, this sailing tour lasted 90 minutes and cost just under $100 per person; it’s not cheap, but it is really worth every dollar. If you’re looking for a very special and, most importantly, romantic boat tour, you simply must check it out!

Steffen Kneist Loving New York

Is the sailing tour with live jazz worth it?

I’m getting goosebumps right now writing about my experience on this sailing tour; to me, that says it all. It was such an unbelievably great combination of relaxed sailing, jazz, and the brilliant New York City skyline.

By the way, your first drink is included in the price of the tour and you are on board a ship that is not at all like the classic tourist boats. It’s just really beautiful!
