Generation Records: New York’s First Heavy Metal Record Store

Generation Records is another store near Bleecker Street that is truly unique. That’s because they were the very first record store in NYC to specialize in punk and heavy metal. Today the selection ranges from DVDs, CDs, VHS tapes to LPs. 

Meanwhile, some more genres like new wave and indie have been added and you can also buy shirts, merch and posters. I really like the atmosphere, because here you can feel a little rebellious vibe against all the big e-commerce store chains.

The staff at Generation Records is always friendly and very knowledgeable – you can just tell they are passionate about what they do! Be sure to take your time at Generation Records, the record store has two floors with many exciting albums to discover.
