Friedman’s Lunch in Chelsea Market

If you’re ever in the Chelsea area in Manhattan, make sure to check out Chelsea Market. While you’re there, make sure to also check out Friedman’s Lunch. Just to give you a little backdrop on the Friedman’s chain; it is a family ran business that operates multiple locations through the NYC area. One of the founders developed celiac disease and her diet needs to be gluten-free. She created Friedman’s to serve amazing food that is also gluten-free. Their mantra is simply, “Eat Good Food”.
The Atmosphere at Friedman’s Lunch

The restaurant has a very rustic feel. Because it’s located inside Chelsea Market, expect to wait for about 15 minutes to be seated. It’s quite busy in there and the restaurant itself is small. It also has an open kitchen and the ambience can be loud. Even though the establishment has the word “lunch”, they do offer breakfast, lunch and dinner service.
The Menu and Our Meal

Friedman’s creates gluten-free comfort food. Their ingredients come from local vendors and sustainable meats that are anti-biotic free. For our meal we had their grain bowl with salmon. If you don’t want salmon, you can also choose from chicken, tofu or steak. The bowl is served with your choice of rice or quinoa, bok choy, eggplant, carrots, bean sprouts, edamame and a sesame-lime vinaigrette.
We also had their steak and eggs which is a classic American breakfast. This item was pretty standard, but the highlight of this dish was definitely the steak. It was cooked perfectly.

Being a photographer and creative in general, New York City, I think is the perfect place to be. I moved to NYC from Boston in 2013 and never looked back. Loving New York has given me the opportunity to do what I love and share those images with you all.
