Free concerts in the city’s parks have a long tradition that dates back to 1850 when the first musical events were held in Battery Park. In Central Park, the free concerts have been held for more than 50 years. Concerts in the Park offer something for every musical taste; the repertoire ranges from pop and rock to classical music performed by the world-famous New York Philharmonic Orchestra.
Plan a little extra time and go to the respective park during in the afternoon, as the concerts usually start at dusk.
Doing so ensures that you can get a nice central spot and watch how the spacious lawn fills up with visitors bit by bit. The atmosphere in the parks is really unique!
