More details about myNY

Like many of the famous art galleries, the Derek Eller Gallery relocated from Chelsea to the Lower East Side. It has been around since 1997 and focuses on contemporary artists.

Many of the artists are well established, but do not have the visibility that they need, and several artists are just emerging. This combination makes the Derek Eller Gallery stick out. They showcase their artists works through art fairs, as well as exhibitions.

Check out their Online Viewing Room

If you want to go to their online viewing room, you must give your name and email here.

In the viewing room, you’ll find works from past exhibitions from JJ Manford. JJ Manford had an exhibition from Oct. 19 – Nov. 16, 2021 called Convalescent Still Lives. JJ’s paintings focus on specific objects on a micro level, and their aim is to focus more on the macro level to see how it all fits into one space. Once you are in the viewing room, you can view the paintings.

There are also interviews with the artists that are transcribed so that you can learn a little bit more about what the artist was thinking during their creation process.

Where is the Derek Eller Gallery located?

They are located at 300 Broome Street in the Lower East Side (between Hester and Grand Streets).

What can you do after visiting the Derek Eller Gallery in NYC?

If you want to visit more art galleries, I recommend the Krause Gallery, McKenzie Fine Art or the Marc Straus Gallery. If photography interests you, you should visit the International Center of Photography Museum. I also love the Tenement Museum, which shows you what life was like for immigrants in NYC around 1860. All spots are less than a 10 minute walk away.
